NORTH SIDE MAN INDICTED FOR FATAL STABBING OF WIFE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced today that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against Leif H. Mortensen, age 72, for one count Murder (unclassified), and one count Tampering with Evidence (F-3), for a total of two counts, in connection to the February 13, 2013 stabbing of his wife Margaret, age 74, that occurred inside their home located at 4390 Kingpin Drive on the north side of Columbus. In the early afternoon, Police received a 911 call stating that Mortensen tried to kill himself with the same knife he used to stab his wife. O’Brien commended the 911 dispatcher and the Columbus Police for rapidly securing the area. If convicted on both charges, Mortensen faces a possible sentence in excess of fifteen years incarceration. He will be arraigned on Wednesday, February 27th at 1:30 pm in courtroom 2B at 345 S. High Street. |

22 YEAR OLD INDICTED FOR USING DECEASED MAN’S CREDIT CARD

Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announces that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against Christopher Burcham, age 22, for one count (F-5) Misuse of Credit Card, one count (F-4) Theft, and one count (F-4) Identity Fraud, for a total of three counts. In February of 2012, a gentleman by the name of George Addy passed away. Christopher Burcham was a friend of the the deceased man’s daughter. It is alleged that in early December of 2012, Burcham stole a credit/debit card from the wallet of the deceased man, and then proceeded to charge approximately $40,000 to the account over a month’s time. Burcham was able to make these charges by running the stolen credit card through a card-reader attached to his cell phone. “If found guilty on all charges, the defendant faces a potential four years incarceration”, O’Brien stated. O’Brien commended the Brice Police Department for their investigation of the crimes. |

MAN INDICTED FOR VOYEURISM AND ILLEGAL USE OF A MINOR IN NUDITY ORIENTED MATERIAL INVOLVING HIS
CO-WORKERS

Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against Nelson J. Brewer, age 30, with five counts Illegal Use of a Minor in Nudity Oriented Material or Performance (F-2), five counts Illegal Use of a Minor in Nudity Oriented Material or Performance (F-5), five counts Voyeurism (F-5), and three counts Voyeurism (M-2), for a total of eighteen counts. Brewer was an employee at Jacks Pet Store located at 6334 Gender Road in Canal Winchester. It is alleged that Brewer had hidden a camera in the employee restroom of the business and he had taken videos of his co-workers without their knowledge between August 24 and October 27, 2012 in various states of nudity, which were also located on his personal computer. O’Brien said, “If convicted on all charges, the defendant faces in excess of ten years incarceration”. |
