Aug 7, 2012 Mobarak and Smith FIRST TRAFFICKING IN BATH SALTS CASES INDICTED IN FRANKLIN COUNTY August 7, 2012 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced that the Franklin County Grand Jury has indicted the first three cases involving the trafficking of bath salts in Franklin County against the following defendants: Soleiman Mobarak, DOB 11/25/82, of 1830 Solera Drive, Columbus 43229 Hasan Mobarak, DOB 12/14/83, of 4159 Rita Joanne Lane, Columbus 43230 Thomas C. Smith, DOB 5/29/55, of 3262 Drake Avenue, Groveport 43125 Counts in the indictments include Aggravated Trafficking in Drugs (F-4) and Trafficking in Spice (F-5). It is alleged that between February 8th and July 25th, 2012 the store owners were selling bath salts and synthetic marijuana out of their stores. Raids were executed on The Joint, The Chamber, and The Garden, all located between 1174 and 1186 N. High Street, and S & K Market just around the corner at 127. E. 5th Street in Columbus. O’Brien stated, “These are extremely dangerous and illegal drugs that need to be removed from our stores and streets”.
Aug 1, 2012 Rider, Tackett, Morrison, Evans FIRST HUMAN TRAFFICKING CASE INDICTED IN FRANKLIN COUNTY August 2, 2012 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced that the Franklin County Grand Jury has indicted the first human trafficking case in Franklin County against the following four co-defendants: Roger K. Rider, DOB 7/8/83, of 317 E. 4th Street/Chillicothe, OH Craig E. Tackett, DOB 5/16/91, of 357 E. 4th Street/Chillicothe, OH Mara D. Morrison, DOB 5/13/91, of 357 E. 4th Street/Chillicothe, OH Richard L. Evans, DOB 4/1/57, of 426 E. Water Street/Chillicothe, OH Counts in the indictments range from Trafficking in Persons (F-2), Rape (F-1), Kidnapping (F-1), and Promoting Prostitution (F-4). It is alleged that in November and December of 2011, the victim, age 24, was lured up to Columbus from Chillicothe by the defendants, under the guise of partying for the evening. The defendants were neighborhood acquaintances of the victim. Once in Columbus, the victim was sexually exploited and forced to work as a prostitute by the defendants at many local hotels, including the Super 8 Hotel, Motel 6, and Knights Inn (all on Dublin-Granville Road), Columbus Inn and Suites on Zumstein Drive, Knights Inn on Groves Road, and Baymont Inn on International Gateway. O’Brien stated, “These defendants preyed upon a vulnerable victim, forced her to engage in repeated sex acts, and utilized her suffering as an opportunity for their personal financial profit”. O’Brien further commended the thorough investigation conducted by the Columbus Police Department, Ross County Sheriff’s Office, the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, and the Ohio Organized Crime Human Trafficking Task Force. “This case illustrates the importance of continued collaborative work not only across the state, but also the nation in order to protect the most vulnerable of victims from sexual exploitation”, O’Brien stated. Jul 11, 2012 Royce Nicely INDICTMENT OF FATHER CHARGED WITH VOYEURISM INVOLVING HIS DAUGHTER AND PANDERING SEXUALLY ORIENTED MATTER INVOLVING OTHER MINORS July 11, 2011 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against Royce Nicely of Dublin, age 41, with two counts Voyeurism (F-5), one count Voyeurism (M-3), two counts Voyeurism (M-2), sixteen counts Pandering Sexually Oriented Matter Involving a Minor (F-4), and one count Tampering with Evidence (F-3), for a total of twenty-two counts. It is alleged that Nicely had videos of his daughter taken without her knowledge between May of 2010 and August of 2011 in various states of nudity, that were located on his business computer. It is also alleged that Nicely had a multitude of child pornography videos on the same computer. O’Brien said, “If convicted on all charges, the defendant faces in excess of ten years incarceration”
