MAN AND WOMAN INDICTED FOR THEFTS DURING CENTRAL OHIO REALTOR OPEN HOUSES

Today, Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned indictments against Michael L. Shipley, age 53 and Crystal D. Galloway, age 37, for six counts (F-2) Burglary, two counts (F-4) Theft, and two counts (F-5) Theft, for a total of 10 counts each. During one week, between August 21-28, 2011, numerous thefts occurred while realtors in the central Ohio area were hosting open houses. The open house dates and streets are listed below:

Common denominators connecting the various crimes were the description of the alleged defendants, as well as their method of operation once inside the homes. “This was a well orchestrated scheme where realtors were distracted by one person, while the other ransacked other parts of the home for valuables”, O’Brien stated. Total loss from all the locations is in excess of $12,000.00. O’Brien further stated, “if convicted on these charges, the defendants each face in excess of 50 years incarceration”. Arraignment for Shipley is today, (Galloway on Wednesday), at 1:30 pm in courtroom 2B at 345 S. High Street.

TEENAGER INDICTED FOR MULTIPLE FELONIES COMMITTED DURING TWO WEEK CRIME SPREE

Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced today that the Franklin County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against Jason Lamonte Watkins, age 16, in connection to four separate crimes that occurred between February 9 and February 23, 2011. Watkins has been indicted for six counts of Aggravated Robbery with Specification (F-1), six counts of Robbery with Specification (F-2), six counts of Kidnapping with Specification (F-1), two counts of Rape with Specification (F-1), and two counts of Gross Sexual Imposition with Specification (F-4), for a total of twenty-two counts. All of the six victims were strangers to the alleged defendant and all of the victims were approached at gun point while leaving stores, their cars or their homes. All of the crimes occurred around Livingston Avenue just east of downtown Columbus. “If Watkins is convicted on all charges, he faces in excess of thirty years in prison”, O’Brien stated. Arraignment for Watkins is set for Friday, October 14th, at 1:30 pm in courtroom 2A at 345 S. High Street.

TEEN ACCUSED IN THROAT SLITTING DURING SCHOOL ASSEMBLY ADMITS GUILT IN JUVENILE COURT

Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien announced that Marcus Solis, III, age 14, admitted guilt this morning to one count Felonious Assault and one count Possession of a Dangerous Weapon in a School Safety Zone, in connection to the September 8, 2011 incident at West High School where Tyquan Greene-Tucker, a ninth-grade student, had his throat slit during a school assembly. Sentencing of Solis is set for November 3, 2011 before Magistrate Cindy Sours-Morehart. “Solis could face a maximum sentence of committment to the Department of Youth Services until his 21st birthday”, O’Brien stated.
