>>Me & My Pal
Drawing Contest
The "Me and My Pal" drawing contest was created by the Franklin County Auditor's Office to help promote responsible pet care and ownership. One of the responsibilities of the Auditor is to license all dogs in the county. We licensed over 100,000 dogs last year and issued 79 Kennel licenses (which is 563 more dogs).
Licensing your dog is required by the State of Ohio. The license is an assigned I.D. number that identifies you as the owner should the dog get lost or separated from you.
________________________________________________________________________________ Online Entry Form & Contest Rules
This year the contest will begin October 19, 2009 and run through November 13, 2009. The applications will be in all participating Franklin County schools, grades Kindergarten through Sixth. Applications may also be obtained from the Franklin County Auditor's Office, Capital Area Humane Society, and Franklin County Animal Control . If you would like to enter the contest and did not receive an application from your school, contact the Auditor's office at 462-3260 or click here for an online fill-in entry and a complete list of contest rules. There are two categories to the contest, dog owners and non-dog owners. The children are to draw a picture of themselves with their dog or if you are a non-dog owner, a picture of themselves with a dog that they may help care for.
A panel of Franklin County art teachers judge the entries and pick a winner from each grade level in each category. An overall winner is chosen from the seven dog owner winners. The winners are contacted and invited to a ceremony at the Capital Area Humane Society to be held December 12, 2009 at 10:00 a.m.. The winners are given prizes that have been donated by our sponsors. The overall winner's drawing is made into a poster and displayed wherever dog tags are sold throughout Franklin County during dog tag season. |
