The
Clerk of the Budget Commission and the Settlement Officer coordinate the
distribution of tax dollars and verify and certify tax levy amounts before the
issues are placed on the ballot.
The
Franklin County Budget Commission, comprised of the Auditor, Treasurer and
Prosecutor, approves tax budgets for the various political subdivisions within
Franklin County, attends statutory meetings and approves certificates of
estimated resources for schools, municipalities, townships and other agencies
that are funded by tax dollars.
The
Clerk of the Budget Commission receives the budgets and appropriations from each
Franklin County subdivision and agency. Anyone interested in receiving a copy of
a subdivision’s tax budget may contact the Clerk at 614-462-3743. Written
requests can be mailed to: Franklin County Auditor, Budget Commission Clerk, 373
S. High St., 21st Floor, Columbus, OH 43215.
The
Settlement Officer distributes real estate, personal property, estate, motor
vehicle license, gasoline, cigarette and manufactured home taxes to each
political subdivision and agency that receives funding from these sources.
