About the Board
The Board of Health consists of five members, four of which are appointed by the District Advisory Council for a five-year term. All members reside within the general Health District, may not hold an elected office, should be knowledgeable in the field of health and at least one member shall be a physician licensed to practice medicine within the state. The fifth member of the Board is appointed by the Franklin County Health District Licensing Council, must live in the general Health District and also serves a five year term.
The Board must meet at least once a month and may hold as many special meetings as it deems necessary. The Franklin County Board of Health meets regularly on the second Tuesday of each month at Memorial Hall, 280 East Broad Street. All meetings are open to the public. Susan A. Tilgner, MS, RD, LD, RS, serves as the Franklin County Health Commissioner. She is responsible for the day-to-day functions of the department. She is appointed by the Board and serves as the Executive Officer and Secretary of the Board.

Jack R. Bope. Jr., resides in the City of Westerville; is past president of Central Ohio Gasoline Dealers Association; a former Advisory Board Member for Columbus State Community College; is self-employed; and has served on the Board of Health since 1987. Term expires in 2013. |

Dana L. McDaniel, resides in Washington Township; is the Deputy City Manager and Service Director for the City of Dublin; is a member of the Franklin County Health District Licensing Council and the Ohio City Managers Association; and has served on the Board of Health since 2002. Term expires in 2012. |

Annemarie Sommer, M.D., resides in the City of Dublin; is a Pediatrician and Clinical Geneticist for Children's Hospital; is a Professor Emeritus of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University and has served on the Board of Health since 1985. Term expires in 2011. |

Joseph P. Weaver, resides in Gahanna; is employed by MASI Laboratories; formerly worked for the Franklin County Board of Health for 27 years and retired as Director of Environmental Health Services; and has served on the Board since 2003. Term expires in 2015. |

Jerry L. Lupfer, resides in Madison Township; is the Fire Chief of Hamilton Township; is a member of the Central Ohio Fire Chiefs Association, the Central Ohio Fire Prevention Association, a Board member of the State Fire Commission and member of the Southeast Franklin County Chamber of Commerce. He was newly appointed to the Board in 2009. Term expires in 2014. |
