Environmental Health Division

The mission of the Environmental Health Division is to prevent disease and injury from environmental agents, by education and enforcement.  These agents would include bacteria that cause food borne illnesses or water borne diseases from drinking water and recreational water environments, unsafe playground equipment, improperly stored solid waste, radon gas, rabies and mosquito viruses,  behaviors that allow for unsafe and unsanitary housing, lead paint, and improperly installed plumbing, to name a few.

This is accomplished by the inspection of schools, swimming pools, spas, vending machines, restaurants, food establishments, tattoo/body piercing operations, jails, manufactured home parks, recreational vehicle parks, camps, demolition disposal facilities, infectious waste generators, solid waste disposal facilities, recycling stations, waste transfer stations, and housing environments. The installation of private water wells and sewage disposal systems are permitted and inspected to prevent the transmission of water born diseases from bacterial and viral agents in domestic sewage.

The Environmental Health Division vision is to create an environment where our constituents live, work and play that is free from the risks of diseases and injury from environmental agents.  Everyday our qualified staff of Registered Sanitarians, Certified Plumbing Inspectors and Administrative Assistants strives to make this vision a reality.
