February

February is Black History Month
FCCS will celebrate Black History with activities throughout the month.

 

Sat., Feb. 20 - Black History Month Event for Volunteers
An Interactive Black History Month event will be held from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at 855 W Mound St. for all volunteers/mentors and their matched youth.

 

Thurs., Feb. 25 - Focus on African American Fathers
FCCS is partnering with the Ohio Commission on Fatherhood to present a panel of experts who will address the theme Black Fathers ... the Best Kept Secret: the history, the perceptions, the love from 9 a.m. until noon at 855 W. Mound St.

 

Sat., Feb. 27 - Kinship Support Group
The Kinship support group will be held beginning at 10 a.m. at 855 W. Mound St. For more information, call (614) 341-6175.

March

March is National Social Work Month
Franklin County Children Services will host various events during the month of March to honor those who play a significant role in the lives of thousands of children and families each year.

 

Sat. March 13 - FCCS Volunteer Ice Skating Party
Volunteers and their matched child are invited to an ice skating party at the Chiller at Easton. RSVP by calling 614-275-2690 or email.

April

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month
The agency invites you to participate in many activities to raise awareness about child abuse. If you suspect a child is being abused, call the 24-hour Child Abuse Hotline at (614) 229-7000.

 

Pinwheels for Prevention Campaign
During April, Franklin County Children Services will participate in the Pinwheels for Prevention Campaign to enhance community awareness about child abuse and neglect. This event will feature the planting of pinwheels around the county - one for each reported case of child abuse in a single year.


Wed., April 14 - Child Abuse Prevention Breakfast
This annual event, held at the Confluence Park Restaurant at 7:30 a.m., highlights child abuse prevention and the accomplishments of social work professionals, client families, youth and community advocates. For more information, call (614) 275-2523.


April 18-24 - National Volunteer Week
Celebrating People in Action is this year's theme for the national volunteer week campaign. It is a time to honor the thousands of individuals who take action year round to strengthen their communities.


Thurs., April 29 - Volunteer Recognition Reception
This annual event, held at COSI at 6:30 pm., honors FCCS volunteers and mentors for their dedication to children who need positive role models. Call (614) 275-2690.
