Events and Campaigns
Franklin County Children Services coordinates many campaigns and events to spread the word about protecting children by strengthening families. In many of these we collaborate with community partners to make a difference in the lives of all children. Children Services works with corporations, businesses, organizations and individuals in an effort to prevent child abuse and neglect, and to provide opportunities for children.
Social Work Month
Franklin County Children Services hosts various events during the month of March to honor those who make a difference in the lives of thousands of children and families.
Pinwheels for Prevention
FCCS has partnered with Ohio Children's Trust Fund, through a federal grant for community-based child abuse prevention, to promote the Pinwheels for Prevention campaign. This effort enhances awareness about child abuse by displaying pinwheels throughout the community.
Child Abuse Prevention Month
April is a time to raise awareness about child abuse. If you suspect a child is being abused, call the 24-hour Child Abuse Hotline at 614-229-7000.
Child Abuse Prevention Breakfast
This annual event highlights child abuse prevention and the accomplishments of social work professionals, client families, youth and community advocates. Also, college scholarships are awarded to agency youth.
Volunteer Recognition Reception
Each year FCCS recognizes the outstanding work of our volunteers and mentors who spend time one-on-one with children in need of positive role models.
FamJam: A Family Enrichment Festival
Each August Franklin County Children Services presents FamJam - A Family Enrichment Festival. FamJam featur fun activities, free refreshments and entertainment. An array of community providers share valuable information and resources with families.
Self-Esteem Workshop for Girls
This event geared towards girls ages 13-18 involved with Children Services focuses on building self-esteem and life skills to encourage positive self-image and independence.
Children's Day at COSI
Families from all over Franklin County discover the fun of science at Franklin County Children Services' Children's Day at COSI each year in September. The event features prize drawings, talented stage performances, and local mascots. Donations from our community partners allow us to offer free food and beverages to the children and families who attend.
National Family Week
National Family Week is a celebration in November that embraces the premise that children's lives are better when their families are strong. In addition to honoring families, community leaders also receive special recognition for their advocacy and support of families at a celebration reception.
National Adoption Month
November is National Adoption Month and highlights the need for more families to welcome adoptable children into their homes. National Adoption Day is celebrated across the country through the volunteer efforts of lawyers, foster care and adoption professionals, child advocates and local judges to finalize the adoptions of several children.
Holiday Wish
For nearly 50 years, Holiday Wish has been providing gifts to children in Franklin County who might otherwise not receive anything. Almost 5,000 children who have experienced abuse, neglect or other difficult home conditions are counting on you. Please consider helping to make these children's holiday wishes come true through the Franklin County Children Services Holiday Wish program. Holiday Wish is a gift-giving program for community donors to provide gifts for children in need.
