How long after the Common Pleas Court renders a judgment can I file an appeal?
You will need to file your Notice of Appeal within 30 days of the time-stamped date on the judgment.

Should I file a praecipe to get the record transmitted to the Court of Appeals?
No, the Clerk of Court will retrieve the records and prepare them for transmittal, as mandated in Appellate Rule 10 B.

Will the Clerk of Court service (send notice to the opposing parties) the "Notice of Appeal / Mandamus?"
Yes, the Clerk will service the notice. Any subsequent pleadings to be serviced are the parties' responsibility.

When will the Clerk's office transmit the request?
- Regular calendar with no transcript: 10 days from filing The Notice of Appeal.
- Accelerated calendar with no transcript: 10 days from filing The Notice of Appeal.
- Regular calendar with transcript request: 40 days from filing The Notice of Appeal.
- Accelerated calendar with transcript request: 20 days from filing The Notice of Appeal.

When is my brief due?
Regular calendar: appellant's brief if due 20 days from the filing of the record; appellee's brief is due 20 days after filing of appellants brief. Reply briefs are due 10 days after filing of appellee's brief.

What are the filing fees to file a Notice of Appeal or Mandamus?
The fee for filing a Notice of Appeal is $75.00, the fee for filing a Mandamus is $100.00

How many copies are required for filing?
The Clerk's office requires the original and 3 copies for each pleading. When filing the Stipulation of Evidence, we only require the original and one copy. If you case is consolidated with multiple cases, we require the original and 3 copies, plus one for each additional case number.

You have 45 days to file your Notice of Appeal to the Ohio Supreme Court.
