Clerk Maryellen O’Shaughnessy Announces Hire of New Chief of Staff

Angela Radney has accepted the position of Chief of Staff with the Franklin County Clerk of Courts, and will begin her job effective June 28, 2010. She replaces Mary Austin-Palmer, who has served in this position since 2009. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force and National Guard, Ms. Radney most recently served as Chief of Administration for Columbus City Attorney Richard C. Pfeiffer’s office. She brings her 11 years of experience from city government to the Clerk of Courts operations.

During her tenure as Chief of Staff, Ms. Austin-Palmer was responsible for operations development and department realignment, and improving the functions within those departments. She also established staff cross-training and customer service programs for the more than 230 Deputy Clerks. “The Franklin County Clerk of Courts’ operations and its staff have emerged stronger under Mary’s skillful leadership. We have appreciated her dedication to this office,” said Clerk Maryellen O’Shaughnessy.

In her position with the Clerk of Courts office, Ms. Radney will work in partnership with the courts, auto dealer and legal communities, as well as the general public the office serves.

Ms. Radney joins two recent hires at the clerk’s office. Xenia Palus was appointed Communications Director in April, and Antone White joined as Director of Operations in May. Ms. Palus served as Membership Director for nine years with Experience Columbus, Greater Columbus’ convention and visitors’ bureau. Mr. White was in the administration of City of Columbus Mayor Michael B. Coleman.

“I look forward to the experience and fresh perspectives Ms. Radney will bring to this office. We anticipate that she will leverage her skills and experience to continue the capable leadership of her predecessor.” said Clerk O’Shaughnessy.

The Franklin County Clerk of Courts manages all court documents filed through the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas. The office is also responsible for issuing motor vehicle titles and processing passports.
