Seniors With Pets

This program provides assistance to older adults who are having financial difficulty providing adequate food and medical care for their pets.

Seniors age 60 and up who are already receiving home care assistance or are experiencing financial hardship can qualify for assistance in caring for their pets.  We can provide food, routine medical care and other assistance as needed.   Please direct requests for assistance to Karen at 462-4361.

Case workers at the Franklin County Office On Aging are working with the Franklin County Dog Shelter to identify seniors who may benefit from the program.  Many seniors and shut-ins who receive meals at home frequently sacrifice their own nutritional needs in order to share their own meals with their beloved pets.

The companionship of pet can dramatically improve the health and quality of life of an older adult.  This program will provide assistance so older adults do not have to choose between paying for daily living expenses and prescription drugs, and caring for their pets.

This program is funded exclusively by BarkPark, a 501c3 nonprofit, all-volunteer organization established to raise money for homeless animals.

To donate to this program, please visit Friends of the Shelter's website and designate "Seniors With Pets" program on your donation.
