Stay At Home Rescue Program

Do you have a dog you need to find a new home for?  Or maybe a litter of puppies who need new homes?
If you are willing to keep the dog or puppies in your own home, we can help!

We'll provide basic vet care, list the dog & puppies on our website, and screen potential adoptors to help find the dog a good home.

THE FINE PRINT:  All dogs in the Stay At Home program must pass our general adoptability criteria.  We cannot re-home dogs that are unsafe or in need of major medical care.  You will need to make an appointment to bring your dog in.  You will be required to bring in and surrender your dog to the shelter.  We will then have our vet perform a physical, update all vaccines, and spay or neuter your dog (if not already done).  We will also test the dog for behavorial concerns, take photos and talk with you about the ideal type of new home.  The process can take a matter of hours, if surgery is not required.  If surgery is necessary, the dog will stay with us overnight for recovery.  You will then take your dog home and continue basic care.

Keeping the dog in your home is less stressful on the dog than being dropped off at the shelter.  We encourage you to bring the dog to adoption events like Mingle With Our Mutts at the shelter and other off-site adoption events so potential adoptors can meet the dog in person.  Due to the nature of the program, participants must live in the area.
