Franklin County Animal Control Officers respond to over 15,000 requests for service every year. They try to resolve dog related problems in the most efficient, effective manner possible.

Sometimes dog related complaints can be resolved by speaking with a dog owner and reminding them of the state laws regarding confinement and/or licensing. On other occasions, it is necessary to impound a dog or file criminal charges against a dog owner to achieve compliance.

Deputy Wardens are constantly receiving training to make certain they are up to date on the latest techniques for dealing with animals and enforcing laws. Some of this training is achieved through courses conducted by the National Animal Control Association. Deputy Wardens also receive self defense training on an annual basis, to assure that they can perform their duties in the safest manner possible.
