Special Needs Dogs
Every year we rescue many nice dogs with special medical or treatment needs.  They all have treatable illnesses that can be fixed with a little more time, money and TLC.  However these expenses are not funded with public monies, so Friends of the Shelter contributes thousands of dollars each month for their care.  You can help give these dogs a second chance by donating to Friends of the Shelter!  Your donations to FOTS are tax-deductible.

Boarding Sick Dogs

Every day, dozens of new dogs enter the Frankin County Dog Shelter, some of them injured or sick, while others have never been appropriately vaccinated and easily catch colds once they enter our overcrowded building.  Our shelter infirmary is just too small to accomodate the number of sick and injured dogs who are in need of our help. Our off-site infirmary program, established in 2005, allows us to save lives every day by expanding the number of dogs we can treat.  Your sponsored dog will get a special frame around his picture with your personalized message.

Sponsoring Dogs

Did you know approximately 25% of the dogs we see at the shelter are either Labrador Retreivers or Lab mixes?  They often need some additional time and training to make them more adoptable.  Our sponsor a lab program allows you to choose a Lab or other dog to sponsor and cusomize a special frame around her picture on our website.
