Conservation Development Zoning Regulations
Franklin County planners, along with a wide range of stakeholders, are drafting an amendment to the Franklin County and Prairie Township Zoning Resolutions to establish conservation development zoning regulations. Conservation Development regulations allow responsible development while protecting environmental features.
These regulations are part of the Big Darby Accord's implementation phase. The Ohio EPA Water Quality Management Plan also requires jurisdictions to adopt conservation development regulations.
Affected area
These regulations will primarily apply within the unincorporated Franklin County portion of the Big Darby watershed. In the future, the option of conservation development will be expanded to the remainder of unincorporated Franklin County
Planning process
We have assembled a wide range of stakeholders to provide input on these regulations. The project began in February 2009, with anticipated completion in June 2009.
Public hearings
Once the draft regulations are finalized, we will hold a series of public information sessions and formal public hearings. We will post the schedule in late spring 2009.
These regulations are preliminary and will change as a result of public and stakeholder input.
