WATER LINE BREAK IN SOUTHWEST FRANKLIN COUNTY LEADS TO BOIL ALERT IN TIMBERLAKE SUBDIVISION
The Franklin County Department of Sanitary Engineering has issued a boil alert for the Timberlake Subdivision in Pleasant Township for Monday, April 16, 2012. This boil alert will remain in effect for 24 hours.
Earlier this morning, crews near the subdivision in the southwest corner of Franklin County ruptured a major water line, depressurizing the distribution system. Emergency repairs should be complete by early this afternoon. To ensure water safety, the department has issued an alert to the nearly 200 homes in the Timberlake Subdivision, asking residents not to consume any water from the public supply unless it has been boiled.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recommends that all water be brought to a rolling boil for one minute and then cooled prior to consuming. More information can be found online at http://water.epa.gov/drink/emerprep/emergencydisinfection.cfm.
