Commissioners have approved contracts with two Ohio companies for stadium seating, sound and video work necessary to complete the Huntington Park project on-budget and on-schedule.

During the Commissioners’ General Session meeting yesterday, Farnham Equipment Company of Westerville, Ohio was deemed to be the lowest and best bidder for the seating package and was awarded a contract in the amount of $659,000.00. This contract involves the furnishing and installation of all fixed seating for the 10,000-seat Huntington Park stadium in the Arena District.

SoundCom Systems, based in Northeast Ohio, was chosen to perform the sound and video package and is ranked among the top 25 systems integrators by Systems Contractor News, and has ranked among the top 50 since 2004. SoundCom Systems has done work at the Cleveland Institute of Music, Akron Art Museum, and Saddle Creek Records Slowdown Club in Omaha, Nebraska.

SoundCom Systems was the lowest and best bidder on the sound and video package and was awarded a contract in the amount of $658,811.00 and will furnish and install outside speakers, broadcast cabling system components and provide all work related to the sound and television systems at Huntington Park.

Commissioners noted that Farnham Equipment Company and SoundCom Systems both meet the County’s Quality Contracting Standards adopted in 2002.

“Franklin County looks for and will continue to do business with companies that offer the lowest and best price. This means hiring responsible contractors that provide health insurance to their employees, a retirement plan and a safe working environment for the work on which they are bidding,” said Commission President Marilyn Brown. “Our community deserves our close scrutiny to enforcing our contracting standards to ensure high quality construction on all county projects.”

“Thanks to the collaborative and bipartisan manner in which the County’s Quality Contracting Standards were established, we are able to balance the interests of the Franklin County community while maintaining a competitive business environment,” said Commissioner Mary Jo Kilroy. “The approval of these resolutions demonstrates the county’s resolve to keep this project on-budget and on-time while consistently applying those standards.”

“Following the recommendations of Turner Construction & Nationwide Realty Investors, these contracts represent strong competition which helps Franklin County to meet the charge of taxpayers and our corporate sponsors to build a ballpark on-time and on-budget,” said Commissioner Paula Brooks. “I applaud the collaborative effort in which our project team worked to bring forward two Ohio companies to further enhance and strengthen the local economy.”
