WHAT: 2008 Community Justice Forum
Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) funding is the only comprehensive federal crime fighting program. Funding enables communities to support their most pressing needs — from investigation to arrest, case processing through adjudication, and for services for victims and their offenders upon their release from jail or prison.
JAG programs are facing a 67-percent cut in FY08, an all-time low. In Franklin County alone, that equates to a reduction of $645,000 for essential law enforcement, prosecution, victim services and community based education programs. Franklin County Commissioners will be joined by many local elected officials, community justice program coordinators and clients to discuss the impacts these cuts will have on Ohio’s communities.
