WHAT:
Tomorrow, County Commissioners will be joined by other elected officials and housing industry representatives to discuss the county’s continued efforts to address and define how the rising foreclosure rate may affect families and local government operations. Discussion will center on counseling services and classes currently available to residents to identifying funding and services gaps where assistance is still needed.

According to a study by Policy Matters Ohio, foreclosures in Ohio have increased 23.6% from 2005 to 2006 with more than 79,000 filings in 2006. The number of foreclosures is expected to increase in the next two years, as many adjustable rate mortgages with lower “teaser” rates are reset to higher interest rates and higher monthly payments.
