WHAT: Franklin County Commissioners and the Court of Common Pleas will celebrate the opening of additional waiting space for citizens serving two week rotations as jurors for the Franklin County justice system. Located on the fifth floor of the Hall of Justice (HOJ), the area, which can be entered only by jurors and approved personnel, doubles the space available for prospective jurors.

Jurors now will be able to choose between the first floor jury room where they can watch television, play board games, search the Internet or talk with other jurors, or they can chose to relax or work in the new space, which has been designated as a quiet area. In addition to comfortable seating, the new area offers courtesy phones, high-speed Internet connections for personal laptops and a private room for nursing mothers.

The commissioners provided $110,240 for the improvements to the fifth floor of the HOJ and approved funding for furniture and Internet connections.
