Local Agencies Partner to Kick Off Dog Bite Prevention Week

WHAT: Dog Bite Prevention Week Kickoff

Monday, the Franklin County Board of Commissioners will team with several local agencies to promote dog bite prevention and education. The public is invited to attend the kickoff event, which will feature a low-cost rabies immunization clinic, dog licensing and dog adoptions.

Campaign sponsors worked in conjunction with the United States Postal Service (USPS) to deliver postcards containing tips on dog bite prevention to over 210,000 Franklin County residents at no charge.

The weeklong campaign is being held in conjunction with National Dog Bite Awareness Week, which is sponsored by the American Veterinary Medical Association.

Over 1200 dog bites were reported in Columbus and Franklin County in 2003.
