On Monday, September 10, 2007, Governor Strickland’s Home Foreclosure Task Force released its final report. In response to the growing foreclosure crisis in Franklin County and to address the recommendations of the Task Force, the Franklin County Commissioners have convened a countywide meeting to bring together members of the community and county agencies to evaluate the report’s recommendations, and develop County Policies to address the Foreclosure Crisis here in Franklin County.

Foreclosures in Ohio increased 23.6% from 2005 to 2006 with more than 79,000 filings in 2006 (Source: Policy Matters Ohio). The number of foreclosures is expected to increase in the next two years as many adjustable rate mortgages with lower “teaser” rates are reset to higher interest rates and higher monthly payments. During the meeting participants will consider the impact the adjustable rate mortgages will have on families and government operations.
