COMMISSIONERS APPOINT WILLIAM PFEIFFER AND RE-APPOINT WALE SOBANDE TO THE CENTRAL OHIO WORKFORCE INVESTMENT BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Franklin County Commissioners appointed William Pfeiffer (43016) to the Central Ohio Workforce Board to fulfill the seat vacated by Mark Dropsey, for a term beginning June 30, 2005 and ending June 30, 2008.

Mr. Pfeiffer received his Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration and his Juris Doctorate Degree from Ohio Northern University. He currently serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of the CareWorks Family of Companies. Careworks is Ohio’s largest managed care organization (MCO), providing high quality medical management services to more than 100,000 public and private sector employers.

Mr. Pfeiffer previously served as CEO/Administrator of the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (OBWC) until the inception of CareWorks in 1996. During his employment with the OBWC, he was responsible for the $20 billion agency and a staff of 4,200 people. He also served the Ohio House of Representatives as Chief of Staff including executing all the daily operations and overseeing a staff of 300. In 1995, Mr. Pfeiffer was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Ohio Water Development Authority and the Ohio Hazardous Waste Facility Board. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Buckeye Ranch, the Art for a Child’s Safe America Foundation, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society Ohio Buckeye Chapter and numerous other organizations.

Commissioners also voted to re-appoint Wale Sobande (43082) to the Board of Directors. Mr. Sobande serves as a representative from the local business community and has served the Board in a commendable fashion in previous years. Mr. Sobande will continue to diligently work with other board members to ensure sustainable employment, support the needs of future local employers and prepare job seekers for employment through training for positions in need.

The Franklin County Commissioners and the Mayor of Columbus appoint an equal number of Directors to this Board. At full strength, the Board consists of 33 directors.
