Columbus City Schools Students to Collect Money for Haiti

Northland High School students (some with relatives in Haiti) have formed Haiti Stands Strong (HSS) in support of their fellow Haitian students and the country of Haiti, collect money for victims, wearing support ribbons, sending clothes."

Background:
Approximately 50 students of Columbus City Schools' Northland High School International Club have made plans to extend help to Haiti and support their fellow Haitian classmates at school. Students will be collecting coins by grade level Tues., Jan. 19 — Thurs., 22. They will also hold a band concert as a fundraiser, and will send clothes and water. The students have created a paper chain of messages of hope to Haiti. They will be wearing ribbons (the country of Haiti's colors). Northland High School's basketball game, televised on ESPN on Saturday, Jan. 16, will be dedicated to Haiti. The students have named their efforts Haiti Stands Strong (HSS) and they plan to continue efforts for some time.
