MORPC'S RIVERFEST ON TOUR! FREE FAMILY BOATING SATURDAY ON HOOVER RESERVOIR

Join the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) Riverfest on Tour! presented by Outdoor Source as it travels to Hoover Reservoir for free family boating activities on Saturday, June 20 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Free boating activities include canoe, kayak and pontoon boat rides. Attendees can register for boat rides at Area B, just north of the dam on Sunbury Road. Later the same day, take your chance at catching a fish at Slate Run Metro Park from 2:30 p.m. - 4 p.m. Fishing poles are provided for this free fun activity.

"It's unfortunate that many people never have the opportunity to paddle a kayak or catch their first fish in central Ohio's beautiful rivers and streams. Luckily, Outdoor Source is a business who truly cares about the well-being of our community and has made it possible through critical financial support for us to offer hundreds of people these experiences. We believe that building bonds with nature through a simple boat ride, for example, can lead someone to think a little more deeply before doing something, like littering, that may cause harm to our waterways." explained Leslie Strader, Outreach Specialist for MORPC.

Additional Riverfest on Tour! weekend activities can be found on the event website: www.riverfestcolumbus.org.

Free activities are available to the community as a result of the generous support from Outdoor Source (www.theoutdoorsource.com), the City of Columbus Department of Public Utilities, Franklin County and Metro Parks.

Designated as central Ohio's metropolitan planning agency, MORPC is a voluntary association of 47 local governments. The Center for Energy & Environment at MORPC, host of Riverfest On Tour!, serves as a community resource in the region by offering a variety of services including: daily air quality forecasts, trail coordination, educational presentations, watershed planning, home weatherization, government carbon footprint analysis and more.
