MORPC Finance Director Carl Styers Retires
The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) will say farewell to Finance Director Carl Styers. Styers, a resident of Etna Township, announced his plan to retire from the agency at the end of August. Styers has provided over 30 years of service to MORPC and has held the position of finance director since September 2002. He is responsible for overseeing more than 100 housing, transportation and weatherization grants for an agency budget of well over $10 million, along with a finance department staff of three employees.
Under Styer's guidance MORPC has received the Government Finance Officers Association Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for 20 consecutive years. Styers coordinated the Mid-Ohio Finance Administrators (MOFA), a coalition of government and nonprofit finance administrators that reviewed specific financial issues and concerns.
Carl earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Mount Vernon Nazarene University and is a Certified Public Accountant. He is an active member of the Government Finance Officers Association and the Association of Government Accountants.
MORPC is a voluntary association of 47 local governments in central Ohio serving the region through planning, direct service, public policy information and innovative programming and intergovernmental coordinating services in the areas of transportation, land use, energy conservation, the environment and housing. MORPC is currently celebrating its 40th Anniversary and its efforts to build a better central Ohio region.
