SWACO is now accepting applications for its General Grant program. Governments and local political subdivisions such as school districts, public and private schools, villages, townships, metro parks and more are eligible to apply for the grants. (Grant requests may also be submitted by tax exempt public charities under Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code). The grants are awarded to programs that have a direct bearing on SWACO’s mission of reducing the reliance on our publicly owned Franklin County landfill. Applications can include proposals concerning recycling, waste reduction, and the treatment of solid waste as a resource.
SWACO Executive Director Ron Mills hopes the grant program will act as a catalyst for innovative recycling and reuse programs locally. "Our local leaders have come up with some great ideas in the past and we hope the 2008 General Grant season will be no different. Many times an idea on a small scale can be adapted to serve others on a greater scale. We look forward to many new ideas."
The deadline for applications for the Grant period is May 1, 2008. The grants will be awarded by June 15, 2008.
