New SWACO Trustee Features an OSU Connection

SWACO welcomes Aparna Dial to the Authority's Board of Trustees. Dial brings to the Board a wealth of environmental experience in Columbus as well as nationwide. The Columbus resident is currently the Director of Energy Services and Sustainability with The Ohio State University. In that position she is responsible for all strategic and operational aspects of the University when it comes to energy purchasing, energy conservation, recycling, and waste reduction. Dial also serves as the chairperson of Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman's "Green Team." Her 17 years of experience in the world of sustainability also includes work with the Ohio EPA, the Arizona EPA, and other environmentally related agencies in Utah.

"We are excited to have Aparna join our board," says SWACO Executive Director Ron Mills. "As representatives of our diverse Central Ohio population, our Trustees provide us with guidance as SWACO works to decrease our community's environmental impact. Aparna's leadership in the areas of green energy, recycling, and waste reduction will be very valuable as SWACO develops additional ways to recover more resources from solid waste. I also believe her ties to Ohio State will prove valuable as we continue to grow our relationship with the University"

Dial is anxious to begin work with her fellow SWACO Trustees as well as the SWACO staff. "SWACO is a leader locally as well as nationwide when it comes to leading edge environmental programs. Of course I am particularly excited about the pioneering work of SWACO in the field of bio-fuels. SWACO's contribution to Central Ohio is growing and I am looking forward to helping chart the future of sustainability in our community."

Dial holds an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from Osmania University, India, an M.S. in Civil Environmental Engineering from Utah State University, and an MBA from the Fisher College of Business at OSU.
