Construction Delays Possible to SWACO's Franklin County Landfill

Due to the ongoing construction of the I-71 interchange (Exit 97) in Southwestern Franklin County, customers of SWACO's Franklin County Landfill may encounter increased traffic delays. Effective Wednesday July 6, 2011 ODOT will close direct access to the landfill from Exit 97 of I-71 (Westbound on State Route 665). Instead, all landfill traffic will have to enter the landfill via Eastbound 665. That will be possible by either taking the same Haughn Rd/Gateway Drive detour that general traffic uses, or by heading southbound on 71 to Exit 94 and then using Route 62 to access EB 665. In addition, a flagger will be working intermittently near the intersection of State Route 665/Haughn Road, so traffic could back up without notice.

Also effective the same day, the ramp from State Route 665 to 71 NB will be narrowed to 10.5 feet. This will extend down the ramp, and 4,000 feet on to I-71 Northbound.

The changes are expected to last a month.

An alternate route to the landfill is to use Exit 94 of I-71, turn north onto Route 62/3, and then east on to State Route 665.
