Records

The Records Department is the Court’s depository for close to thirteen thousand (13,000) open files.  Certain cases are kept open and pending for years, while other cases open and close in a short period of time.  The retention of pending open files, along with new cases filed, creates a caseload for the Court exceeding thirty one thousand (31,000) cases annually.

The Records Department also houses copies of official forms and Franklin County forms for estates, guardianships, and trusts.  Franklin County Forms are also available on this site.

Files may be checked out only pursuant to Local Rule 55.l and 55.2.

Legal Practice In The Probate Court

Legal practice in the Probate Court is restricted by law to attorneys who are licensed by the Supreme Court of Ohio. Due to the complexity of the law and desire to avoid costly errors, most individuals who have filings before the Court are represented by an attorney. Court employees are prohibited by statute from practicing law and cannot give legal advice.
