Probate Court Celebrates National Adoption Day

Judge Eric Brown has long been committed to tearing down barriers to permanent family placements for all children in our community, including children who are older, have special needs, or are at-risk.

In an effort to further that goal, Judge Brown and the Franklin County Probate Court will host the local National Adoption Day celebration on November 16-18, 2009.

Over that three-day period, 12 adoptive families will adopt more than 12 foster children currently placed in their care, making the gift of family a reality just in time for the holidays.

National Adoption Day is a nationwide event to increase awareness of the foster children who await stable, loving and permanent families to call their own.

The court is working in partnership with Franklin County Children’s Services, the National Center for Adoption Law and Policy at Capital University Law School, the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, Columbus Bar Association Probate and Juvenile Law Committees, Central Ohio Association of Juvenile Lawyers, and the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys on this very worthwhile project.
