Hawk Pushes for DD214 filing

Recorder Daphne Hawk will be hosting a reception honoring all Franklin County Veterans on Wednesday, May 23rd beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the county courthouse (373 S. High Street, 1st floor auditorium).

 Jason Dominguez

Jason Dominguez, of Lima Company, will be the keynote speaker.

Dominguez led his Marines through 12 major combat operations and 73 combat and security patrols. During the deployment, 22 Marines and one Navy Corpsman made the ultimate sacrifice while 59 were awarded the Purple Heart. All Franklin County veterans are invited.

Recorder Hawk wants to emphasize the importance of recording your DD214 with the county. IT’S A FREE SERVICE to all veterans. The DD214 is official military discharge paperwork that includes information about years of service and specific areas of training. By filing with the recorder’s office, you have a permanent, secure copy on file and you also receive a mini copy that can easily be stored in a wallet or purse.

The mini copy of your DD214 serves many purposes. It is considered as an official form of identification. Your DD214 helps gain benefits including funerals with military honors and discounts ranging from funeral costs to meals.

The media is welcome.

Recorder Hawk and Jason Dominguez will be available for interviews.

Recording Plats and Condo Plats

Date Posted: 05/10/12

Effective January 1, 2013, the Recorder’s Office will no longer use the Book and Page number reference as part of the process of recording Plats and Condominium Plats. Since the conversion from a manual system to an electronic instrument number system in 1997, the instrument number has been the official recording reference. The Book and Page was left in use as a courtesy to filers who employ the use of templates and boiler plates that use the Book and Page as part of those documents. Since the Recorder’s Office does not create or maintain an actual Plat Book(s) or Condominium Book(s) for records filed after 1997, it is no longer efficient to continue the practice of assigning these Book and Page numbers.
