You may safeguard your important discharge papers in the Recorder’s Office at no cost. Original documents or Veterans Administration certified copies of military discharge certificates and DD-214 forms may be presented for filing Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the General Index counter. If mailing, please send to:

After recording, you will receive a wallet-sized DD-214, a certified copy and your original documents bearing the appropriate recorded information.

DD-214 forms are useful to verify military service in a number of circumstances including:

  • Identification
  • Burial Benefits
