CORE Classes for Employees

The following workshops are required training for all Franklin County Board of Commissioners’ agencies employees. Refer to the course descriptions for more information.


FOR EMPLOYEES WITH LESS THAN ONE YEAR OF SERVICE:

New Hire Orientation (1st Day of Employment)
*Special Information Session:

*Introduction to Franklin County Government

This is an orientation session for all new hires in the Franklin County Board of Commissioners' Agencies'.  A brief introduction to Franklin County Government and its structure will be presented.  Employees will gain insight on the collaboration efforts of the different agencies as they work together toward the common goal of servicing the citizens of Franklin County.

Audience: All Staff - 3.0 contact hours


You must register for and attend these 5 CLASSES during your first year of employment:

  1. Customer Service

  2. Ethics

  3. Multicultural Awareness

  4. Sexual Harassment Awareness

  5. Violence in the Workplace


FOR EMPLOYEES WITH ONE OR MORE YEARS OF SERVICE:

It is recommended that you register for and attend 3 CLASSES from this list per year as additional training:

  • Anger Control

  • Dealing with Difficult People

  • How to Work as a Team

  • Can We Talk? Improving Communication Skills

  • Stress Management

  • Self Esteem

  • Telephone Etiquette

  • Time Management


CORE Classes for Supervisors & Managers

The following workshops are required training for all Franklin County Board of Commissioners’ Agencies Supervisory & Management staff. Refer to the course descriptions for more information.


FOR MANAGEMENT WITH LESS THAN ONE YEAR OF SERVICE:

You must register for and attend these 3 CLASSES during your probationary period:

  1. Ethics

  2. Performance Appraisal Process

  3. Union Contract Administration


You must register for and attend 6 of these classes during your first year of employment:

  • Americans with Disabilities (ADA)

  • Coaching for Improved Performance

  • Customer Service

  • Employment Law Part 1 & 2

  • Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)

  • Multicultural Awareness

  • Progressive Discipline

  • Sexual Harassment Awareness

  • Team Development

  • The Successful Supervisor

  • Violence in the Workplace


FOR MANAGEMENT WITH ONE OR MORE YEARS OF SERVICE:

It is recommended that you register for and attend 3 of these classes after your first year – but before your third year anniversary date. It is suggested at least 2 CLASSES from this list are completed each year thereafter:

  • Can We Talk? – Improving Your Communication

  • Conflict Management/Dealing with Difficult People

  • Delivering Effective Feedback

  • Employment Law part 1 & 2

  • Interviewing Skills for Supervisors

  • Planning/Time Management Skills

  • Stress Management
