Please read the FAQ's about overpayments if you have any questions.


Pleae Note: Real Estate Overpayment form must be notarized before iti is sent in.

If you think that you have overpaid your Real Estate tax bill, you can enter your district parcel number or tax bill property address to see if you are entitled to a refund. To obtain your Real Estate Overpayment, complete the following steps:

  1. Search the overpayments database to see if your name appears.
  2. Record the amount of overpayment due to you.
  3. Open the Tax Refund Form, you may fill it out online, but then you must print the completed form.
  4. Sign the form in the presence of a Notary Public
  5. Mail notarized form and supporting documentation (including closing statements, cancelled checks, release from other interested parties, etc) to:

    Columbus, OH 43215
  6. Once your application is received, you will be notified by mail of the status of your request.

Disclaimer

All refund requests for overpayments, duplicate or erroneous payments made in the current tax collection period must be received prior to January 31 for the first-half collection and prior to June 30 for the second-half collection. Refund requests for prior year overpayments can be made at any time.

Please Note: The overpayment list contains the name of the property owner at the time an overpayment was made. That does not, however, guarantee that the name listed is the person entitled to the refund. The overpayment list may contain errors. Any liability will remain with the entity or individual who completed the affidavit as well as the recipient of the excess funds.
