The Homestead Exemption is a program that reduces property taxes for senior citizens and the disabled.
Eligibility Guidelines
Must be 65 years of age or totally and permanently disabled.
Must own and occupy the home.
As of July 1, 2007 Ohio offers the Exemption to ALL individuals over the age of 65 or who are permanently and totally disabled regardless of income.
The application deadline is October 1st for the 2007 tax year.
If an individual’s spouse qualified for the Homestead Exemption and passed away, but the surviving spouse was at least 59 years old at the date of death, then that individual can still receive the Homestead Exemption.
