The Financial Wake Up Call is a financial literacy simulation held this year on the Ohio State University Campus at the OSU Extension/4-H Office on April 30, 2008. The event celebrated April as being financial literacy month and was a financial literacy simulation designed to educate 150 local junior high school students on financial matters and prepare them for the real world.

Staff members discuss the duties of the treasurer's office, allow students to play interactive financial based games and explain property taxes as well as distribute treasurer's tips with financial education information. 150 students from five school districts across the state participated in the Franklin County Treasurer's Financial Wake Up Call, a financial literacy simulation held at the Ohio Statehouse on May 21, 2007. Participating school districts include: Canal Winchester Local Schools - Franklin County, Columbus Public Schools - Franklin County, Alexander Local Schools - Athens County, Newark City Schools - Licking County, and River Valley Local Schools - Marion County.
