Homestead Exemption

Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP)
Provides help in paying heating bills during November through March for income-eligible adults and families. For more information, call 1-800-282-0880.

Senior Citizen Property Tax Assistance Program (PTAP)
This program offers one-time help to low-income individuals age 60 and older who cannot pay current taxes. For more information, go to the PTAP page.

Tax Counseling for the Elderly
This program provides free tax preparation services to middle-income and low-income taxpayers age 60 and over. For more information, call 1-888-227-7669.

Senior Options
This program provides access to community services that enable Franklin County residents age 60 and older, to live as independently as possible. These services include minor home repair, home-delivered meals and medical transportation. For more information, call (614) 462-6200.

Homeowners Assistance
This is a home maintenance and repair service for elderly or disabled homeowners who live in certain parts of Columbus. For more information, call (614) 645-8526.

Legal Aid Society of Columbus
This agency provides help for Senior Citizens in a variety of legal matters including bankruptcy, estates and consumer problems. For more information, call (614) 224-8374.

AARP
A nonprofit, nonpartisan organization for people 50 and over. They provide information and resources on a variety of issues including financial planning and Tax-Aide. For more information, call (614) 224-9800.
