Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG) Program

The ESG program helps people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless find and keep stable housing. ESG funds are used to:

  • Reach out to people living on the streets
  • Improve and run emergency shelters
  • Provide important services to people in shelters
  • Quickly move people from homelessness into permanent housing
  • Help stop people from losing their homes in the first place

In Franklin County, ESG money goes to local groups—called Continuums of Care (CoC)—that help homeless residents. These groups provide emergency shelters, rapid rehousing support, and services to help people stay housed.
