Community Engagement
Promote inclusive opportunities for residents, community partners, and institutions.
In 2024, we financially supported and had Franklin County presence at various cultural events throughout Franklin County. This includes Somali Cultural Festival, Asian Festival. Ohio Black Expo, UpLift Her, Black Men’s Wellness Day, Ghana Festival, Juneteenth, Pride, Black Food Truck festival, Passport to Fashion, National Pan-Hellenic Council of Columbus, and many more. With our support we were able reach over 1 million residents to learn about Franklin County resources, have access to improve health outcomes, and receive education on various topics that impact the improvement of life for every resident, every day.
We continue to promote racial equity in all areas of government in collaboration with residents, community partners, and institutions. We were able to serve 63 community nonprofits whose goals and initiatives align with the board of commissioners to promote education, inclusivity, and belonging. Funding expands across various areas that are historically underrepresented impacting youth, minority health, mental wellness, violence, art, and sports. This included serving youth in various ways through Aerospace, Medical, and Tech education.
We highlighted Franklin County’s Latino Community, one of our largest growing communities in Central Ohio, through celebrating culture and partnering with NBC4 during Hispanic Heritage Month. In addition, we promoted inclusion, expanded perspectives, and provided equitable experiences through our support and work with the Asian American Commerce Group and the Asian Festival, the Ghana Fest, and Stonewall Columbus Pride 365.
If your organization goals and commitment align with the Board of Commissioners Racial Equity Core principle to assist in serving every resident every day. Please reach out to inquire about funding partnership opportunities at odei@franklincountyohio.gov
