The Probate Division of the Franklin County Common Pleas Court has jurisdiction over the following case types: adoptions, birth certificate corrections/delayed birth certificates, civil, estates, guardianships (adult and minor), involuntary civil commitments, minor settlements, name changes, trusts, and other miscellaneous cases. The court also issues marriage licenses.

Judge Jeffrey D Mackey graduated from The Ohio State University College of Law in 1981 and ran a successful private probate legal practice for 38 years. He has a long history of serving his community. He was elected by the people of Franklin County and took office on February 9, 2021. He entered the role with a vision to provide equal access to justice and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
