Franklin County Board of Commissioners I Franklin County Office of Economic Engagement and Community Development
The Franklin County Board of Commissioners approved a $75,000 contract with Dr. Leo Taylor to continue delivering professional development workshops for county employees.
The agreement funds 30 virtual sessions: 24 sessions of "Language, Intent, and Impact in the Workplace," three sessions of "Communicating Effectively During Difficult Conversations," and three sessions of "Practicing Allyship at Work: From Awareness to Action."
Dr. Taylor has partnered with Franklin County since 2024. Between January and December 2025, more than 700 employees submitted evaluations across multiple sessions. The majority reported increased confidence in workplace communication, improved ability to navigate difficult conversations, and a stronger understanding of how communication affects team dynamics and service delivery. Approximately 94% of participants expressed interest in attending additional workshops.
Perla Martinez, Deputy Director for the Office of Economic Engagement and Community Development, presented the resolution at the April 28 General Session. She noted that the investment supports the Racial Equity Council's recommendations on expanding training that builds practical skills and strengthens workplace culture.
