Franklin County Board of Commissioners I Franklin County Data Center
The Franklin County Board of Commissioners approved the creation of a new position at the Franklin County Data Center to design, implement, and improve a countywide digital accessibility program.
Julie Lest of the Data Center told the Board at the April 28 General Session that the new role, combined with an existing position, will launch a program to help Franklin County meet federal mandates for accessible digital content. The program will work with agencies, courts, and boards to ensure that websites, mobile applications, digital documents, services, and social media are accessible to all residents.
The position advances the county's compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. In a related action earlier in the session, the Board approved a contract amendment with Main Street Computing (Resolution 259-26) that adds ADA compliance work to the county's dog licensing software, ensuring all public-facing documents and information from that system meet accessibility standards.
