The Franklin County Board of Commissioners approved a two-year contract extension totaling $10 million for senior adult day services and senior home support services through the Office on Aging.

The contracts, originally approved under Resolution 0131-23, support the Senior Options Program, a levy-funded system of care designed to help older adults remain safe, healthy, and independent in their homes. Services include homemaker assistance, personal care, respite care, and adult day services for older adults with chronic conditions, limited mobility, and other care needs.

Shonda Wingo, Director of the Office on Aging, told the Board at the April 28 General Session that service rates will increase by 1.5% under the extension to reflect current delivery costs and support provider sustainability. The extension runs from May 1, 2026, through April 30, 2028, with no remaining extensions available.

The resolution supports Rise Together Poverty Blueprint Goals 1, 4, 5, 7, 9, 10, and 11.
