Franklin County approved a $50,000 grant to Legacies United Foundation to continue and expand youth leadership programming through the organization's Beyond the Game Youth Initiative.

Legacies United Foundation has served as a county community partner, delivering intergenerational programming that connects youth, families, and community members through leadership development, workforce exposure, and community-based initiatives. The Beyond the Game initiative brings together youth and adults through the Youth Sports Leadership Conference, a regional platform focused on safety, sportsmanship, and youth engagement.

A component of the work drawing attention from county leaders is the Recess All Stars pilot program. That program has produced results in reducing negative behaviors in school settings while improving student engagement and social-emotional development, the kind of early intervention the county's youth investment strategy is designed to support.

Programming will be delivered at the Linden Community Center and Columbus City School sites, reaching youth across multiple neighborhoods and school communities and ensuring consistent access throughout the program cycle. The grant builds on demonstrated outcomes from prior years and supports early leadership development as a pathway to workforce readiness for Franklin County youth and young adults.

The investment aligns with the county's Rise Together poverty blueprint goals one, eleven, twelve, and thirteen, centered on early leadership development, improving youth outcomes, and creating pathways to workforce readiness. Dennis Gullick IV, president of Legacies United Foundation, was present at the May 12 General Session. Resolution 299-26 was approved unanimously.
