Up to 20 young people in Franklin County will spend eight months in a paid fellowship focused on workforce readiness and civic leadership, after the Board of Commissioners approved a $115,000 grant on June 2, 2026.
Resolution 0359-26 authorizes a grant agreement with Think Make Live Youth to operate the Workforce and Social Justice Alumni Fellowship Program from May through December 2026. The program serves Franklin County residents ages 16 to 24, with a focus on participants from Linden, Hilltop, and Franklinton, communities identified as most affected by poverty and incarceration.
Participants will attend weekly in-person sessions covering resume building, interview preparation, digital and financial literacy, professional communication, and leadership development. The program also provides individualized mentorship, job coaching, and transportation support, designed to reduce barriers to consistent participation.
Through partnerships with local employers and community organizations, participants will be connected to employment, internship, and apprenticeship opportunities, with follow-up support continuing after the program closes in December.
