Give a shelter dog a warm, cozy place to snuggle up this holiday season.

The Franklin County Dog Shelter & Adoption Center is thrilled to welcome the community back for our annual Holiday Sleepover this December!

This heartwarming program invites community members to choose a shelter dog and welcome them home for the long holiday weekend, giving them a quiet place to relax, a little extra love, and a much-needed break from the shelter.

Our community makes this program possible.

Each sleepover not only gives our dogs the gift of comfort and a break from the kennels, but also helps our team learn more about their personalities in a home setting, insight that helps match them with future adopters.

Whether you’re looking for a weekend snuggle buddy, hoping to find your next best friend, or simply want to make a difference for a dog in need, were so grateful to have you be part of their holiday story.

Sleepover Pickup Dates

• Saturday, December 20
  9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

• Sunday, December 21
  9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

• Monday, December 22
  11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Adoption Option

Fall in love with your holiday houseguest?
Adoption fees will be waived.
Families may adopt their new best friend for only the cost of a Franklin County Dog License ($18).

How the Sleepover Works

• First come, first served. No appointments required. No prior experience needed.

• Have a dog in mind? Arrive early for your best chance to meet them.

• Not a Franklin County resident? No problem, anyone 18+ is welcome.

• We provide all supplies: food, leash, collar, toys, and care essentials.

• Have kids or pets at home? Our team will help you select a dog that fits your household.

• Browse dogs ahead of time:
  dogadoptions.franklincountyohio.gov
  (Dogs are removed from the site once adopted or out on sleepovers.)

• Expect higher wait times during peak hours. Thank you for your patience.

• For everyone's safety, personal pets cannot enter the shelter.
  If you want a dog-to-dog intro, bring someone who can wait outside or in the vehicle with your pet.
