Get ready for a night of joy, music, and celebration!

We are thrilled to invite you to join us for the 19th Anniversary Celebration of Urban Strings Columbus and the retirement of our beloved founder, educator, and philanthropist Catherine Willis.

To mark this milestone, we are bringing to Columbus the nationally acclaimed trio from Washington, D.C., The String Queens, who will perform in concert that evening with Urban Strings Columbus.

In keeping with our educational mission, the morning of Saturday, February 28, 2026 will feature an inspiring master class for 35–50 young string musicians (violin, viola, cello, and bass) from area schools. It is being funded by the Ohio Arts Council and The Encova Foundation of Ohio Encova Foundation of Ohio program. It will be led by local music teachers and The String Queens. This is a unique opportunity for our students to learn, grow, and be inspired by world-class artists.

The heart of this Celebration Event is to carry forward Catherine Willis’ powerful vision—ensuring that the future musical landscape of Columbus is filled with talented, musically trained youth who are nurtured and empowered through Urban Strings Columbus.

We are honored that our Honorary Chairpersons Dr. Ted and Bernice McDaniel, Dr. Eric Candler and Dr. Linda Coleman, Dr. William and Carla Hicks and Atty Ivery and Debra Foreman have agreed to serve and that the incomparable Angela Pace will join us as Mistress of Ceremonies for the evening.
