About CASA

CASA of Franklin County is part of the National Court Appointed Special Advocates and Guardian Ad Litem Association for Children. We are a publicly funded program that serves severely abused, neglected, and dependent children by recruiting, training, and supporting CASA/GAL volunteers who advocate for their best interests.

Mission

Empower a diverse group of community volunteers to advocate for the best interest of abused, neglected, and dependent children involved in the child welfare system. Our dedicated staff recruits, screens, trains, and supports these volunteers as court appointed guardians ad litem (GAL). Through legal advocacy, CASA volunteers work to interrupt generational trauma and ensure children are in safe and loving homes.

Vision

Ensure that every abused and neglected child has a trained, competent volunteer guardian ad litem to serve as their voice in court in order to make a positive impact on the child and community.

Problem

Every day in America, three children lose their lives due to their caregivers. In Ohio, over 100,000 instances of child abuse and neglect are reported each year, with Franklin County seeing around 3,300 children involved in court cases related to abuse, neglect, and dependency annually. When a parent is unable or unwilling to ensure a child's safety, the community must intervene.

Solution

CASA connects community volunteers with children who need advocacy for their best interests. These court-appointed volunteers help ensure children receive appropriate services and treatment by independently monitoring their situation, identifying community resources, and engaging in the court process.
